The Benefactory
publishes a line of beautifully illustrated true stories about real
animals for children ages 3-9. The books are written by award winning
authors and a portion of all sales supports twelve nonprofit animal
protection and environmental preservation organizations. The company
also offers a line of related products, including audio versions of the
stories narrated by Grammy winning musician Tom Chapin, plush toys, DVDs
(with live footage of featured animals) and coloring and activity
books. The True Friends program is different from standard
home-party plans, in that customers attend WITH their children. At a
True Friends Party, the Storyteller reads a story and discusses it with
the children. Then she (or he) sets the children up with a simple craft
activity, allowing time for contact with the parents to discuss and sell
the various products. The products are very affordable, ranging in price
from less than $5 to packaged sets of just under $50; this drives a high
level of purchasing.

The Storyteller Kit is
available at an introductory price of $49.95 (normally $99.95) which
contains materials and samples necessary to conduct a storytelling,
(more than $150 worth of product) with a detailed handbook and access to
optional training. The True Friends program does not require any upfront
